The VELscope system is a powerful, fluorescence-based device that enhances the visualization of oral mucosal abnormalities such as oral cancer and premalignant dysplasia. We use the VELscope to shine a flourescent light on the oral tissue. Abnormal tissue reflects this light differently than normal tissue, allowing us to detect lesions in earlier stages of dysplasia. VELscope examinations can be performed in the our office during routine hygiene exams.
